EBC Trek Days 5 & 6: And just like that, we are in Pheriche, above the tree line and above the clouds. Yesterday we woke up in Tengboche. The walk from Tengboche to Pheriche leads you through a meandering rhododendron forest, through several bucolic villages and past a large yak pasture (yaks are everywhere) before you cut uphill to a ridge overlooking Pheriche. Once you crest that hill, you are in a completely different world. The colors are different. The smells are different. It’s cold. It’s windy. The air is really thin. It’s obscenely beautiful. It’s the moment in the trek that it really hits you: you are very high up in some really big mountains. As you may know, I’ve done this trek many, many times...arriving in Pheriche is ALWAYS exhilarating.
🌟
We acclimatized today by taking a hike high on the ridge (with its idyllic stupas and unbelievable views) which overlooks Pheriche and the neighboring village Dingboche. It was a fabulous way to spend the morning. We have been camped out this afternoon drinking tea and resting before we push on to Lobuce tomorrow.
